Fallen Empire: Legions
Legions was originally created as a Torque Game Engine Advanced demo for GDC 2006 where the media and Tribes community latched on, hoping for a spiritual successor to the Tribes series. At the time GarageGames had neither the resources to create the game nor the platform to create it for. With the creation of InstantAction.com, Legions became a possibility.
The game was designed to be a focused fun experience that Tribes players and new players would both enjoy. The initial release was meant to be light in content, with more coming through continuous updates. Based on player reactions and press feedback, we succeeded from a gameplay standpoint and content is still continually being added.
My Contribution
I was the lead programmer on the project from the beginning through the first beta release. During this time (October 2007 - April 2008), I did gameplay and engine programming, managed several other GG employees who helped with various coding tasks throughout the project, managed and helped develop the InstantAction integration, and interfaced with the QA and InstantAction teams.
After the beta release the game was essentially code complete, and I moved on to other projects.
